Oklahoma has been like another planet this year. It is only this weekend that, for the first time this season, the temperatures finally dropped below 80 degrees into the 60s. Honestly, it’s felt like an way-too-extended summer here in central Oklahoma. Halloween came and went, and still everyone wore shorts, t-shirts, and sandals. Then mid-November arrived and the grass, shrubbery, and tree leaves remained relatively green and abundant, along with upper 70 to mid-80 degree temperatures. If you don’t believe me, just look at this snapshot below of my cat, Tabby, lying beside green grass on the back patio. Geez.

Honestly, I haven’t even contemplated the pending holidays until now…and Thanksgiving is THIS THURSDAY!

Okay, enough about the summer…I’m ready for fall! Winter can wait its happy ass for a few weeks more while I take full advantage of my autumn experiences. Damn straight.

So, within the past week or so, I attended a luncheon at a local restaurant called Flint, where I had one of the tastiest meatloaf entrees that I recall in years. It was flavorful and had a marvelous gravy accompaniment, sat atop tasty garlic mashed potatoes and topped with salted spinach greens and onion rings. Check out the photo below.

Oh, I was in heaven that day, I can tell you.

In addition, I received two new Doctor Who Tardis neckties in the mail that I ordered from Etsy, which are pictured below.

I wore the darker tie (on the right) to a Career Day event at Highland East Junior High this past Friday and many teachers and students complimented it. I also wore my collectible pair of red Chuck Taylor sand shoes that were the style worn by the 10th Doctor, played by David Tennant. Again, a number of compliments on that. It was a great day with the kids!

So, now I’m enjoying the fall conditions and trying to wrap my mind around the idea that Thanksgiving is only days away.

Don’t worry…I’m all about food. I’ll make the transition with no problem.

How well are you getting prepared for Thanksgiving? Are you doing any baking? Drop me a comment and tell me all about your baking plans.

Until later, enjoy life; be kind to those around you, and Happy Reading! Peace.
