Ode to a Scone and Other Nonsense
/Wow, is it actually mid-May already?! Gadzooks!
This past week marked an annual national event called Teacher's Appreciation Day (May 9th), and I received the gift of an orange scone from Panera Bread from a friend because she said I was an amazing teacher. Yes, in college we call ourselves professors, but essentially we're merely teachers with high-brow senses of expert knowledge in select fields. But no matter...we still teach.
And, recognition or not, I LOVE being a history professor!
And have I ever mentioned that my all-time favorite baked good from Panera Bread is an orange scone? Oh, I adore orange scones! They are a sublime tasty treat of baked goodness. Suffice to say, I felt especially, and properly, appreciated.
Recently, I’ve made good progress on a writing project that’s still a bit secret, but I’ve released the teaser blurb for if you’re a subscriber to my newsletters. (Be sure to do that at the right-hand side of this screen, if you haven’t already.) It’s the first book in my new Nowhere Man series. I’m quite pleased with my progress, too!
In movie news, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 this past week. It was a fantastic follow-up to the first film, and I found Baby Groot wholly adorable! Now, on to the wait for June 2 and the debut of the Wonder Woman movie. Woo-hoot! Oh, and I am Groot.
Finally, this weekend marks Mother’s Day. In addition to sending a humorous card to my Mom, I brought her some brownies that I baked especially for her. We also had a nice chat to catch up on recent events. For those of you whose mothers are still actively part of your life, have you reached out to do something nice for her? Hey, maybe pick up the phone and wish her a nice day at the very least. If you can’t dial, Siri or Alexa or Google can dial for you.
Until later, enjoy life; be kind to those around you, and Happy Reading! Peace.
